Well, I guess it is to honor how awesome this owl looks! When Ethan and I were in Tokyo, we decided to go to an “Owl Cafe.” There are all sorts of cafes all over the city where you can dine with all sorts of animals. It took us forever to find this place, and we had to walk up about six flights of some pretty sketchy stairs. We were instructed to wait outside until our “seating time.” We stood out there looking at a bunch of other Japanese owl-seekers, whom

The Ultimate Brisbane Craft Beer Crawl

Travel News
on April 26, 2019 at 6:10 pm After a day of touring the local haunts of a new city, it’s nice to sit down with an ice-cold beer. And when in Brisbane, you’ve hit the jackpot with options. This city’s brew scene has exploded with new craft beer bars and tap houses opening faster than you can say “cheers”. If you add them to your tour through Brisbane City, you’ll find sightseeing can get a whole lot more rewarding. Saccharomyces Beer Café, South Brisbane Photo by @saccharomycesbeercafe Walk up to the big tap wall at Saccharomyces (pronounced sac ? a ? ro ? my ? sees. click to enlarge Fredericksburg, a town of about 10,000 people in the hill country of Texas, did not set out to become a tourist town. It was a farming and ranching center, originally settled in the 1840s by German immigrants. It didn't start making its living as a host until the 1960s, a byproduct of its proximity to the ranch of Lyndon Johnson, who became U.S. president when John Kennedy was assassinated in 1963. White House correspondents became aware of Fredericksburg, then one thing led to another. Pretty soon, the whole town was oom-pah-pahing and wearing a willkommen on its municipal sleeve. I knew none of this history when I drove into Fredericksburg on a March evening. The day of our travel ha...

Travel News
American Airlines has taken an $80 million hit from the grounding of Boeing 737 Max aircraft, and it expects that the overall impact will be $350 million before the aircraft is able to resume service. The carrier has extended cancellations of flights using the aircraft through Aug. 19, about 115 of 7,000 daily departures over the summer. Thus, it has had to reaccommodate nearly 700,000 passengers, president Robert Isom said. While American's 24 Max 8 aircraft are a "small portion of the total fleet, the financial impact is disproportionate" because it represents a loss of revenue while costs remain, CFO Derek Kerr said. The $350 million hit to pretax income assumes the aircraft are able to reenter service after Aug. 19.Even with the Max-related cancellations, passenger revenue rose 1.9 p...
